I love salted caramel: chocolate, fudge, ice cream-you add salted caramel to it and I'm pretty sure I will like it. So I made some salted caramel hot chocolate. So good! I just used my favorite homemade hot chocolate recipe and added in some caramel and sea salt.

Homemade Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate:
recipe source: {here}

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 cup white sugar
1 pinch salt
1/3 cup boiling water
3 1/2 cups milk
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup half and half
2 tbs caramel topping (add more or less to your liking)
1/2 tsp sea salt (add more or less to your liking)
homemade whipped topping

Combine the cocoa, sugar and pinch of salt in a saucepan. Blend in the boiling water. Bring this mixture to an easy boil while you stir. Simmer and stir for about 2 minutes. Watch that it doesn't scorch. Stir in 3 1/2 cups of milk and heat until very hot, but do not boil! Remove from heat and add vanilla, caramel and sea salt. Divide between 4 mugs. Add the cream to the mugs of cocoa to cool it to drinking temperature. Top with whipped topping and chocolate shavings or caramel.

  1. Yum! That's one of my favorites from Starbucks. Even better that I can make it myself now!

  2. How pretty! Your photos are lovely. I tried a "pouring" shot with a recipe today and it was a total failure. I'd love to know how you set this up. Pinning your tasty recipe right now. Thanks so much for sharing, Sarah!

    1. :) I poured and my husband took the picture- I was going to try it all on my own but quickly realized that wasn't going to happen!

  3. Omg ! It looks so good. I'll have to try it. Thank you for the post and your pictures are…. gorgeous ! :)
