How pretty! I think I could pull of the sewing portion but I can't seem to look right in those long dresses. Maybe I am too short? I might give it a try anyhow. Thanks for the tutorial and great photos of each step.
That is so pretty! I LOVE the color! You make it look so easy. Thanks so much for entering this into the Project Pinterest Challenge Contest! Good Luck! Jill twoyellowbirdsdecor.blogspot.com
You look amazing in this dress! I don't sew-but you make it look "sew" easy. hmm... wonder if I could glue it together..jk:)This color looks amazing on you as well. Awesome job! Have a happy week!
I love this. I do have a question. You said that you cut the neck down 7 inches. It looks like a V cut. How wide is the cut at the top part? In the pic it looks like maybe an inch. Thanks for sharing this. I am exciting about trying it out.
How tall are you? Both of these tutorials talk about getting 2 yards, but that sounds like it wouldn't be down to the floor. Does the weight of the Jersey knit just bring it to the floor? I am 5'6". I really want to make one/two haha maybe three but don't want to buy too short of fabric, though I guess I could make it a short dress if I needed to.
I saw you on www.thepleatedpoppy.com and thought I would come see your blog. WoWWWW ... fabulous job on sewing this dress. Stunning color on you!!! Love your blog and can't wait to come back again soon to see whats new. :) pippa www.shopwithpippa.com
That is darling! It looks great on you. I would love to try making one for myself, but I'm short and squatty and I'm not sure how it would look. 30 minutes isn't a huge investment of time, though, so I should just go for it, right? Maybe if I belt it higher...
That is great!!! I think your version out-shines your inspiration's! Nice job!!! I am NOT a dress gal, but I might have to give this a try anyways. I mean, 30 minutes! I'm heading back to check out your skirt...
I saw the same project on Pinterest as well and thought about trying it out. It looks like it turned out fabulous!! Thanks for posting. I'm going to check out your maxi skirt now. Found you on Sweet Anne's :)

I can't get over how easy this looks. I 'm also a big fan of the maxi dress, so I'll have to make one. Thanks for the tutorial! I'm going to pin this to my sewing board so that I can keep the tutorial handy. Sharon @ mrs. hines class

ReplyDeleteIt's just a slit straight down. It just opened up a little when I took the picture.

ReplyDeleteI'm 5'6" too and I trimmed off about 8 inches from the bottom.
DeleteOh wow. OK thank you.
DeleteI'm crazy impressed right now!!!
ReplyDeleteSo... if I'm a giant (6'1"), I'm assuming I would need more than 2 yards - do you know how to decide, though??
ReplyDeleteSorry, I'm a little sewing illiterate.
Never mind. I missed the line about cutting 8 inches off the bottom. Good to know.
